Wisdom: "I have also learned to know the ambiguity inherent in the keeping and caring for animals and children. However much I may care for them, any "keeping" of these living creatures is temporary, moving between tight embrace and full surrender, whether we like it or not."
Humor: Promises, Promises...or, What I Did On My Sixtieth Birthday
When I turned sixty
I found in the store
A world of temptations
For girls of three score.
.......

With these products we'll be using.
We won't age. We'll be Diffusing.
We'll be dancing, we'll be prancing

No ones footsteps could be dragging
While her face cream's Anti-Sagging).

I left the store happy, though.
Isn't that funny?
I'm learning, at sixty,
how NOT to spend money.
I don't want to ruin the poem for those of you decide you need to read this book and I also don't want to wade into copyright violation.
I am not surprised that Reeve Lindbergh would be a good author, considering who her mother was, and will have to see if my library can get this for me. Thanks for the new info!
ReplyDeleteI loved "Three Bags Full." The sheep all have an appropriately sheepish outlook, but each has a unique personality. Great story!
ReplyDeleteWell, I love mysteries, but I didn't think "3 Bags Full" was all that great. *lol* I know, I know, it takes all kinds ;)
ReplyDeleteI thought "TBF" was a riot - but I think that was because I could see the personalities of the sheepies and equivicate them to ours - Maybe when Leigh gets her spinner flock she'll have a better take on it. (or tell her to think of it as "CCSI" with sheep instead of cats - Ha, Ha. )
ReplyDeleteThe other book looks good too - liked the poem :-) as someone who is rapidly approaching the 60 mark... well, I guess I have 4 years, but that's going to go by fast, I think. T.
I have see 3 bags full somewhere, I will have to try to get it; I like mysteries and of course I like sheep... :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Reeve L's other writings so this goes promptly on my right-now list. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love mysteries and didn't care enough for this one to even finish it, something I rarely do.
