The white pelicans are back. I had seen one the other day and tonight was surprised to see that there are a half dozen. I slammed on my brakes and slid to a stop on the shoulder to get a picture of these guys.
Can you believe that this is the Nevada high desert?
We had nice clouds all day and I took several pictures, but I liked this one the best - putting the day to rest.

hi sharon-how awesomely beautiful they are. i had no ides thee were pelicans in nevada-although i saw them in idaho too! surprise surprise. you are right about the negative conatations of prefix "ex"-how using the word "first" or "practice?" hmmm-that's a toughy!
gee sorry for the spelling in my prevoius post-ugh! usually i have my tea earlier-but i was dealing with chickens and potatoes first.
I've seen flocks of white pelicans flying overhead several times in Nevada County. The first time I saw them was in the middle of the summer while at a spinning event. I almost thought they were a mirage. Igor sees flocks occasionally from the Banner Mt. Lookout. Yet, I rare saw a white pelican while living in the Bay Area -- only the brown ones. Go figure.
Lovely sunset picture - it's great to see clouds instead of smoke!
Yes, I can believe it... I've been to Stillwater! Where are those taken?
How exciting to see the pelicans - they are such fun birds. Your sunset picture is gorgeous - good job all around :-) T.
P.S. I enjoyed the story about your spinner friends too.
Hi Sharon - thanks for stopping by my blog :-) No, no Harry Potter books for me - I've watched one or two of the movies, but they have never much struck my fancy - My older sister, who taught middle school for 30 years (can you imagine that!) loves the Harry Potter series, and she'll probably be in line - LOL - maybe someday... T.
