Independence Day

Since our independence provides us with the freedoms of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, I decided to spend my day pursuing happiness. I sat on the deck and spun three quarters of a bobbin this morning until it got too warm and I had to go inside. Yesterday before I left for work I had finished two more skeins of yarn so went upstairs to add them to the existing warp.

I only have 5 1/2 inches left, which is 66 ends. I think I would have enough white to finish warping but I ran out of brown. However, since I'm spinning white right now, I guess I won't be working with the loom for a few days. I'm trying to get into the habit of going into my studio every day.

To that end, I stopped at the bead store after my haircut on Friday and picked up these beauties. I especially love the African skunk beads on the bottom left. I'm trying to sit at my beading table when I can't work on my loom. I've gotten into the habit of not going to my studio and I'm trying to change that.

To my great surprise, the habit thing is working. I was compelled to sit down the other day at my table and ended up with these earrings. The bottom three were reincarnations of other earrings that I had always meant to do something with but just hadn't gotten around to. I can't tell you exactly how long they've been in a suspended state, but I do know that all of the components date back to before I met Ian thirteen years ago. I'm liking my new habit.

Glad you celebrated in the way you love!

The earrings are pretty. I love the round ones on the lower left in black and beige.............

The earrings look great! And the warp looks very exciting. Can't wait to see some weaving on it.

How cool... you are so multi-talented! I knew you were spinning to weave, but didn't know you did beading too.
