Almost Me

This morning I took the dogs for the first walk this year and the first walk in over two months. I haven't quite completed two weeks on Synthroid and already I feel like I'm back in my own skin. The dogs and I were thrilled even though it was pretty chilly.
How cold was it? That's ice on the mud puddle and that's a good thing. As long as we walk while it's below freezing, we're not walking in mud - we're walking on frozen mud. I took a couple more color reference shots.

I got to thinking that Buster is a pretty good color reference shot.
I love the colors in the Juniper tree - the blue, greens and gray.
I took the Week 12 shot after we finished our walk. The sun was still a little low but I forgot to come back and take another shot. As you can see, we are having an Indian summer, or something.
I'm so excited. I finally feel like tackling a project that doesn't involve sitting on the sofa and that project is a rag rug. I bought 30 pounds of fabric last summer, washed and ironed it and then nothing. You have no idea how big this day has been for me.
When I went to Mill-End Fabrics I asked them to show me their cheapest cottons - these were a dollar a yard. The colors are obnoxious together and I'm so curious to see if it matters when they are woven together. I just bought lights and darks.
This is my first strip, which I weighed at 2.5 ounces. I figure I have at least another 25 of these to sew together. I'm planning to load them right onto the shuttles that are piled on the table. After Laura's mother passed away, she gave me her Mary Black weaving book and all her rag rug shuttles. Jean, I hope I make you proud.

Sharon, I'm glad you feel better now. I know what it means to not feel good and live on the sofa :-)
Have fun weaving

Great ews you're feeling better, looks like everyone enjoyed the walk. Frozen mud is so much better than mud mud. ;)
Quite the rag rug production going on! Nice to see you working on weaving again. Sorry about the old sewing machine, but hey, that's a pretty one on your table!

What a great place to walk and be outside with your dog buddies! I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better. It sounds like you are quite excited about the rag rugs. Weaving rag rugs is a lot of fun. Enjoy yourself!!

Wow! That's a lot of rag shuttles! It will be fun to play with them and see which ones you like to handle the best.

The fabrics will be wonderful when woven.

Sounds like a refreshing walk. And yes...synthroid makes a huge difference. A little sunlight doesn't hurt either.

Woke this AM to weather report of 17 degrees (Fahrenheit) and freezing rain. How on earth do you get freezing rain with temps. that low?!

Happy weaving! (what colors are you using for your rag warp?)

Looking forward to seeing the finished rag rugs. It is amazing what happens to ugly fabric in a rag rug. Glad you are feeling better, the dogs must appreciate it too!

To be honest I can imagine how good it feels to be able do do things again! It must be spring approaching, don't you think? And aren't the days slowly lengthening...?
Good to see you're (also) feeling a little better.

Mom would be so excited to see what you are doing. Even though she had all the tools, she rarely used them (I'm getting a little worried about me in that vein...).

I can't wait to see the rug - I'll bet it will be stunning!!

I agree with Hilary. You can use the awfulest stuff in a rag rug, and it will still look great when you're done!
