Inbetweens

This is week 12 now and pretty bleak. I'm always amazed that anything comes back and grows flowers after months on end like this. I heard on NPR today that New Hampshire snowfall was 4" an hour. I now consider myself to live in a garden state.
Melissa and I went to the Goodwill Bargain Bin before Knit n' Kibitz today. It's the place where they bring in the expired sales from all the stores and pile them on tables and then sell by the pound.
We had a lot of fun, especially wondering at what people paid full price for at one time. Melissa hit the jackpot with one shirt - the designer buttons were the hit of the hunt. I came in second with this acrylic vest, which I scalped for these buttons.
Melissa and I really didn't know what to do about this vest. Someone had sewn it up in a crude fashion, but this is Indian cloth, mirrors and all. It ended up coming home with me.

The detail is what made us know that we couldn't leave it behind. Phone image sent and DD Chris has already staked a claim. They were tumbling whole tables into tubs and turnovers to be shipped out to Asia. Makes one think. At least it makes this one think.
This is the project that I took to Knit 'n Kibitz today. I'm in a bit of a rut. I'm knitting both ends to the middle so am knitting them simultaneously on a needle. I had more fun with my knit buds than I did with my knits.
I snagged this photo on my way home this evening.

Nice buttons! That indian fabric is something else. Will you break it down and do something with parts of it?
Sorry you aren't feeling the love with the recent knitting.( How's that Jackalope?) Maybe a switch up to the loom???;)

Good finds at the Goodwill! I stopped in at mine on Dec 31, to find that everything was half-price! Woo hoo! Snagged a whole bunch of sweaters to recycle, and a few other things too. Gotta love the thrill of the hunt!

I need to get to my local Goodwill ASAP!
That Indian cloth would make a lovely knitting bag :-)

Excellent finds in your bargain hunting! That sunset is brilliant. Isn't it amazing how sometimes a sunset can bring such beauty to the desolate landscape of winter?

Those thrift shop excursions can be fun can't they? Only deal is once and awhile I'll decide to leave something that caught my eye and then wish I hadn't left it. I don't let that happen much anymore. I haven't gotten to do that kind of shopping since probably November. I'm feeling the urge but not sure when I'll get out to do that...

Hi Sharon,

Your Goodwill trip sounds like a hoot to me! I need to try that sometime soon to find fabrics to weave some rag rugs this spring.

Great photo of the mountains and the sky! Views like that just make you thankful to be alive and to be able to see nature like that. I feel like that every time I stand at the top of the mountain when I'm skiing. Snow is just so awesome!

OBTW, what pattern are you knitting? Maybe you mentioned it....
Have a great weekend!

I wish Goodwill would do that here!

What a skyshot! You have the biggest skies out west.

My week 16 picture going up tonight. It's pretty stark looking, but in a pretty way.

That photo is just amazing! I do think that winter seems longer when it is raining or freezing cold. Today was a lovely exception.
