Six pair of jeans has gotten me this far, which is 46" and I'm afraid that's where the rug is going to stay for a while. I have three more pair cut in strips and hit our closets today. I have started cutting up two pair of Ian's jeans and four pair of mine. I think I need to blend the strips from Bob's hard-worn jeans with ours.
Guess which are the size 10 talls. I was wearing these up until a couple years ago when my waist began to grow, kinda like Pinocchio's nose, only it wasn't a lie - it was true and it was menopause. I was in denial obviously or I would have given them to Goodwill by now. Good thing I didn't! I'm getting nice long strips from those legs.
One project I have finished, however, is Alexia's sweater. I'm going to stop by their house on my way home from church Sunday and try it on her. I'm not going to rest easy until I know that it fits her. She'll be six in just a couple of weeks!
The other day I realized that my "wild hare" pedicure color is actually the same color as our bath mat, and somehow that gave me an idea. I called the salon to see if they gave pedicures to six-year-old girls. Not only do they, they have a special price on a "mani-pedi" for little girls, so guess what Alexia's getting for her birthday. I checked with DD Chris first and she said Lexi would be thrilled. I've already picked up the gift certificate. Birthday shopping for girls is so much easier than for boys.

Birthday shopping for girls easier? Hm. Not when they get older.
'Yes grandma. Very nice'. The look on their faces tells something else. Now I let them choose their own presents and we go shopping for them together, which means a great day together, too. (The girls are 11 and 13)
What a fun gift and the sweater is just beautiful! I had a Grandma that made many things for me and I treasure
those memories. They will too some day
What a lovely sweater that you knit! Creating things for the people you love is so rewarding.
Wow, you've been busy! Alexia's sweather looks super. And it sure is a nice present for a (young) girl.
What an amazing rug. Your weaving is really wonderful when you can recycle old jeans into something so lovely and useful. Pretty sweater too...I luv purple.
What a good idea to go through the closets for rags. There are always some pieces I hate to give or throw away. By recycling them into a project I get to use them again differently!
MAN, I hate the body transmorgriphying of menopause! (Or peri-menopause, in my case.) HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT!
Love the rug and the sweater. Little girls (and big girls, too for that matter) LOVE to go have their nails done. She'll love that birthday surprise.
